Here’s a more personal post.
I have been back in Malaysia since December of 2008 and it hasn’t been the easiest of transitions. From health bouts to the heat of (now) summer to challenging surroundings, it’s been a manic ride.
In the span of 5 months, the world was and is still grappling with a deepening financial crisis; swine flu hit Mexico and the rest of the global community; dengue was claiming many lives in Malaysia and we got ourselves a new prime minister.
Yet there was only one thing that remained constant, and that was change. My mentor in Hong Kong used to tell me that “change is good.” I never fully understood that until I have gone through these experiences. While some of them truly do not make sense in the perfect world I try to build in my perfect “master plan,” it continues to exert the fact that I have absolutely no control over things.
I hate that being the little control freak that I am, but hey, that’s how things roll.
I suspect that I will continue to go through one transition to the next this year and may not fully settle to my new surroundings. What with a wedding on the way, a change of jobs as well as changed perspectives, it’s no wonder that I’m so confused!
Yet I take comfort in good company; close companionship with the friends that matter and not to mention the brilliant food here. What is there to complain about Malaysian food?
Here’s hoping I will find consistent time to update this blog. It remains one of my greatest passions: Writing.
Peace out!
